Northern Hemisphere’s Liberty Boot Camp Training Challenges a Hit
It was the Northern Hemisphere’s turn to accept the boot camp challenge. Held on the 30th of January and 6th of February, the one hour Liberty boot camps, proved extremely popular. Judging by the feedback, those who attend one or both camps left exhausted but very satisfied!
Delivered by David McCandless from the Softlink IC UK office, the topics for each of the boot camps followed that of the boot camps held in the Southern Hemisphere late last year.
The first session covered the numerous types of searching available in Liberty and the specific advantages of each search type. The second concentrated on the WebOpac – from using the interface setup wizard to using the WebOpac to promote your library’s resources and services.
While always keen to learn, it has become increasingly difficult for many library staff to find the time to participate in Softlink IC’s regular half and full day training events, scheduled throughout the year. The boot camp format was devised to provide a series of short, sharp, tightly focussed training sessions. We hoped this would make it easier for many of our time-poor Liberty users to attend.
It is great to see that the format has proved extremely popular. Thank you to all who attended.
The recordings of the boot camps are now available. To access them, log in to the Softlink Support portal.
More boot camps are planned for 2019 so keep your eye out!
Please do not hesitate to contact Sarah at sarah.thompson@softlinkint.com or ictraining@softlinkint.com with any topics you would like covered in future boot camp sessions.
