Users praise Philadelphia’s Liberty library management system training

Softlink’s Liberty library management system group training sessions headed to Philadelphia in June. Delivered by Maida Rubin, and hosted by Peirce College, the free group training provided big value for users.

Eleven Liberty users took part, with nine able to attend for the full day. It was a diverse spread of users, with Academic, Medical, Corporate and Law librarians in the mix. Maida said it was a delight to see the Liberty community going the “extra mile” to take part.

Staff from four other Information Centres in Pennsylvania & Delaware attended.   One attendee flew in from North Carolina; our New York and Washington, DC attendees even traveled by train!

The users explored Advanced Cataloguing and Serials, and Maida demonstrated how to “put their stamp” on Liberty web pages using the system-provided customization tools.

Jamie Huang from Reed Smith US, LLP, found a great many of the Liberty features that Maida covered to be really helpful, from the cataloguing templates, tags, book slide creation and banners for the Home page through to translations and user privileges.

For  Paul Connelly KPMG, LLP, the training reaffirmed the decision to implement Liberty was the right oneLiberty was the right choice for KPMG.

“Liberty is the best library services system I have used. It is the most technologically advanced, and it offers a robust analytical break down of usage, which is especially important for my organization. I also appreciate their webinars and training and their customer service and support is fantastic. I would absolutely recommend Softlink for any information service organization. I am glad my organization utilizes Liberty.”He continued by commenting that it was the best library services system he has tried, siting in particular its technologically advanced features, robust analytics, webinars/training availability and excellent support.”

Users were enthusiastic about putting the lessons learned into practice.

Leanne Holveck from Christiana Care commented that Maida:

“covered a lot of areas of interest that my library will be using to customize our pages and enhance our library production. She was great, showed us step by step.”

While for Kristin Inciardi, from Peirce College,  the training:

“removed the mystery of a lot of Liberty’s features and making changes/customizing on Liberty is a lot easier to do than I thought.”

The day also provided all who attended the opportunity to collaborate and share workflows, and tips with each other.

We thank everyone for their enthusiasm and generous contribution to the day’s training.
