Employee Spotlight – Matt Coy

Matt Coy, our Sales and Account Manager for EMEA and North America, is part of our talented Softlink Americas team. We get to know more about Matt in the second of our Softlink Employee Spotlights.

How would you describe your job to a child?

I sell computer software to libraries so librarians are able track books, articles, magazines, and other content that are stored and borrowed. The software also allows children like yourselves to check out books easily.

What do you like most about working at Softlink?

I love bringing on new customers to Softlink’s products. There’s nothing better that hearing the excitement in their voices once they see how their work-life is going to get a lot easier due to the ease of use and flexibility of the software.

What is your favorite type of music?

I have a wide range of music in my collection, but I would say 80’s music gets the most rotation.

Where in the world would you like to visit and why?

The Galápagos Islands, so my family and I can see the vast number of species that I’ve only been able to see on TV.

Which 4 people, alive or dead, would you love to have dinner with and why?

Jim Morrison as I would like to “pick his brain” behind the meaning of some of his lyrics.
Stephen King as he’s the author I’ve read the most and would love the chance to talk about the books I’ve read of his.
Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, so I can sit back and listen him, and Jim Morrison, talk philosophy.
Babe Ruth because he was such a larger than life character.  It’d be amazing to be able to listen to his stories of his life and confirm as to whether they were actual truths or urban legends.

If you could be anyone else for a day, who would that be and why?

Superman. With the ability to fly, help people in distress, and have an alter ego, being Superman sounds quite appealing to me.  Hopefully I can avoid Kryptonite as that would really ruin my one day.
