We’re thrilled to present the Liberty v5 Build 8.056 release. With this release, users can take advantage of a range of new features and enhancements, including the highly anticipated Dashboard View!

Dashboards are a key part of any system as they provide an easy way to access and analyze data. By clearly displaying data in an easy-to-understand graphical format, dashboards enable users to quickly identify trends, spot anomalies, and measure performance. They can also be customizable, enabling the layout and content to be tailored to your needs. Dashboards can provide real-time updates, giving oversight of the latest activities across your library.

With the new dashboard view in Liberty, library staff and administrators now have a 360-degree view of their library’s activity. This view will serve as the default homepage for administrators and staff, providing access to essential features and insights through widgets and summaries, including recently cataloged resources, a tip of the day, successful (and unsuccessful) homepage searches, a collection summary and more!

Features of Liberty Dashboard

The dashboard feature in Liberty is designed to seamlessly provide an overview of essential system metrics as soon as users sign in. Users can design their dashboard to match the tasks, workflow or activities they routinely perform by tailoring their widgets and the order they appear via parameter 1156. The new Liberty dashboard includes the following widgets:

  • Bibliographic type summary
  • Collection summary
  • Menu shortcuts
  • Recent cataloging activity
  • Recent failed catalog searches
  • Recent orders
  • Recent searches
  • Newly catalogued resources
  • Subscriptions about to expire
  • Tip of the day

Improving Workflows through Accessible Information

Dashboards aid the library in better decision-making by providing staff with timely information about library activity, as well as relevant analytic insights. For example:

  • Staff can improve the library’s collection with insights over recent, successful and unsuccessful OPAC searches, and;
  • Staff can also save time by planning ahead and using the ‘subscriptions about to expire’ widgets which provide useful information about upcoming library resource renewals.

Other useful features on the dashboard are the ‘recently cataloged resources’ widget, providing staff quick access to recently added resources, while the ‘recent cataloging activity’ widget allows oversight of cataloging activities linked to your library.

Dashboards are the gateway to efficient library management and improved user experiences. With a clear overview of library performance at your fingertips, you’ll be able to make informed decisions, allocate resources effectively, and provide an enhanced experience for your users. Our new Liberty dashboard is designed to enable fast and easy access to information and help avoid time-consuming administrative tasks.
