Employee Spotlight – Alex Spencer

Based in Softlink’s Australian office, Alex is a part of our Southern Hemisphere support team. We get to know more about Alex in the latest of our Softlink Employee Spotlights.

What are the main responsibilities of your position?

I’m primarily responsible for supporting and maintaining our hosted clients for the Australia Pacific Region, as well as running a lot of our one on one and group training sessions for Liberty v5.

When did you join Softlink and what do you like the most about working here?

I started with Softlink in June of 2015. The best part about working for Softlink Information Centres is being part of a dedicated team that works together very well and are always happy to help each other. It is great to have such a supportive team day in, day out. I also love being able to solve problems for our clients, it is a very rewarding feeling

What is your favorite type of food? If there is a list of them so much the better!

Without a doubt, my favourite food of all time is Buffalo Chicken Wings. It is my ultimate weakness. I’ll also never say no to Pizza or a good, rare steak.

Which 4 or 5 people, alive or dead, would you love to share your favourite food with and why?

Jesse Enkamp. Jesse is an inspirational member of the online Martial Arts community who has built an empire out of his hobby and passion. It would be great to pick his brain.

Billy Connolly, my all-time favourite comedian. I’d love to hear some of his stories live and in person.

Bear Grylls, I loved his documentaries on surviving in various different wildernesses. It would be so interesting (although possibly unappetizing…) to hear more stories about his adventures in the wilderness.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, his dedication to his craft during his prime is incredibly inspirational, and he applies that same drive and motivation in all other areas of his life and work. I’d love the opportunity to speak with him.

If you could be anyone else for a day, who would that be and why?

I think I would like to be Gordon Ramsay for a day. I love cooking, but I’m not exactly a Michelin Star chef. Chef Ramsay is so passionate and successful, and I have the utmost respect for what he has achieved. I’d like to see what a day in the life of Gordon Ramsay entails.

Where in the world would you like to visit and why?

Definitely Japan! Japan is such a beautiful county with a rich history and culture. I imagine I could spend many months there and still not see or experience everything this country has to offer.

Other than that, I have always wanted to visit England, Ireland and Scotland. I have some family in England that I have never met, and the countryside in this part of the world would be absolutely beautiful.
