The library training system includes standard terms for required elements. They are a general guide for students to follow. But the students had other ideas during their “play time”.
Renate Beilharz, a BHI Library Studies Educator, wrote,
“Library studies students’ imaginations are endless, so, of course we ended up with some unusual data… in the fictional BHI Training Library.”
To illustrate this, Renate provided us with examples of what students entered for Branches, Borrower Loan Categories, Borrowers, and Payment Methods.
Below are a few of those examples. Popular fiction and imagination ruled.
Branches:
- Central Idiocy Agency (CIA)
- Tardis
- Ministry of Magic
- Hogwarts Library
- The Moon
Borrower Loan Categories:
- God
- Cyborgs
- Elvish Language
- Fairies
- Foodies
- Such is Life and
- Chaos Warriors
Borrowers:
- Bombers, Essendon
- Presley, Elvis
- Blurp, Afa
- Bond, James
- Potato, Peter
Payment Methods:
- Ioweyou
- Barter
- Gold ingot (1kg) and
- Imperial Credit
Learning and practice do not mean there is no place for fun and imagination no matter the age of students. It is great to know that the BHI’s library studies staff are amused at what their students come up with as they learn how to use a library management system. Thanks for the laugh Renate!
