Almost forty librarians from government, public, academic, health, engineering and legal libraries took part in our New Zealand National User Conference and Masterclass in Wellington in June. The free event for Liberty customers was also preceded by a site visit to the Environmental Protection Authority’s library.

Feedback from delegates was again overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to meet with other Liberty users, have a voice in the development of the library management system and to get new ideas that they can apply to their own libraries.

said Musarrat Begum, Librarian at HERA.

The agenda for the full day Liberty National User Conference began with Sarah Thompson (Technical Services Manager). Sarah ran through the new Liberty features that will soon be released.

Users were excited by the features and pleased to hear that many of the features will be available very soon!

Later in the day James Martin, Softlink IC’s Development Manager, expanded on the Liberty new features discussion. During his presentation, James asked the community how Liberty could be enhanced.

The delegates came up with some very interesting ideas, and we’d like to thank all the librarians who contributed for their input. Customer feedback and guidance has always been an important consideration in our product development.

We would also like to thank Anand Kochunny, Librarian at the Parliamentary Counsel Office, for his Customer Story segment on the use of Liberty Link at the PCO Library.

We love hearing how our library solutions are being used “in the wild”!

The morning agenda included a presentation from Softlink Information Centres General Manager, John Crook. John provided a short history of homo sapiens (and Information Management) before also discussing Our Shared Values.

In the afternoon, delegates broke into three groups for the breakout sessions. The guided sessions allowed them to dive into a focussed discussion on topics that relate to their operations.

The first day of the conference wrapped up with a question and answer session before unwinding for an evening of canapes and catching up with other Liberty users.

The following day, Sarah led a Liberty Masterclass. The training session covered advance Liberty skills in areas including Advanced Cataloguing, Borrower Lists, Interest and Interest Groups and Homepage customisations.
