Law libraries accommodate all manner of resources, both digital and physical, to help lawyers in their research. More and more, law firms are relying on the internet, online databases, and web-based services for research, but there is still a need for physical publications. Legal librarians are essential to maintain these libraries, update records, and assist with legal research. Their duties often go far beyond this, and they make an invaluable contribution to law firms. Here are 7 ways that law libraries and librarians help save law firms money.
As the legal landscape continues to evolve, law libraries play a vital role in providing essential resources and services to legal professionals and researchers. In 2023, several emerging trends are shaping the field of law libraries, transforming the way they operate. This blog post will delve into five key trends that are driving innovation and inclusivity in law libraries.

In 2020, many special libraries were still operating primarily on-site. Digital collections existed, but they were often small or siloed, and often loosely connected to wider organizational systems.
Over time, even the best-maintained systems can benefit from a little spring cleaning. Tidying up your library management system (LMS) is a great way to keep things in top shape. While data cleanup might sound like a big task, it’s easier than you think—and crucial for ensuring your system runs efficiently.
As the world migrates online, resource collections in archives, museums, and libraries also need to have a presence there. Digitizing at least the most significant parts of their collections ensures that presence. Digitization involves the conversion of resources, currently in a physical format, into a digital one. The conversion process can extend to all existing media, including books, journals, documents, and artefacts. Managing the digitization process has become a key concern for resource managers around the world. Education, government, and corporate entities need to meet many challenges as they commit to this vital process.

"Our borrowers like that Liberty is simple to use. It is easy to access the catalog directly from the Lamm Jewish Library website and see what is available." Leonie Fleiszig, Director
When creating clinical teams, including medical and paramedical staff in these teams is an obvious step. What may not seem quite so obvious is including a librarian. We often think of librarians as… well… stuck in libraries. But, with advanced mobile connectivity, librarians literally carry their library with them. Embedding a librarian into a clinical team provides a huge advantage. Librarians ensure relevant information for rounds is available, and can access research and information efficiently. That is the skill set they bring to a clinical team.
